Known mostly for their general urology services, the clinic was struggling to increase their patient volume for their preferred cases in male fertility. The physician's preferred cases are vasectomy reversal, sperm retrieval techniques, varicocele treatment, and treatment for peyronie’s disease. Their goal was to increase male fertility patient volume for these specific cases, using new Internet Marketing channels.

Internet Marketing is well suited for this practice's specialty because male fertility and sexual medicine related health conditions are very personal and intimate issues. Patients generally prefer to do their own research on the Internet before consulting a physician.

Malefertility.md after site optimizationTo meet the client's goals, Fertility Marketing recommended a newly designed website and the development of a competitive search engine ranking for the term “male fertility treatment.” The new site www.malefertility.md was launched in November 2003. The site's traffic increased over the subsequent 18 month period between 10% to 100% per month. Fertility Marketing also made sure that the website was optimized for the clinic's preferred cases, using key phrases and content pages about these specific treatments. Each month, these pages are the top ten most visited pages on the website. By April 2005, the website www.malefertility.md had reached a No.1 rank for over 70 relevant key phrases on the 30 most important search engines. This website includes patient forms, patient education videos and a secure information request form for fast appointment scheduling and patient inquiries.

In addition to an Internet marketing campaign, Fertility Marketing also launched a  print marketing campaign for Male Fertility Specialists. The campaign included a professional patient information package for easy patient registration, a fertility resource book for Dr. Bastuba's referring  and  a quarterly email/printed newsletter was published to keep referring physicians and patients updated on the latest developments in the industry.

New site vasectomyinfo.com specialized in vasectomy reversalAs the growing male fertility expert in the San Diego area, Dr. Martin Bastuba also had excellent success rates in vasectomy reversals. In order to increase his patient volume for this procedure, Fertility Marketing suggested that Dr. Bastuba invest in a separate website focused specifically on vasectomy reversals. In April 2005, the site www.vasectomyinfo.com was launched. The new website is designed in tableless CSS code (cascading style sheets), adheres to XHTML 1.0 guidelines, and incorporates the latest search engine optimization requirements for competitive ranking, including Section 508 compliance. Since Google automatically blocks new sites from search engine ranking for 6 to 8 months, a fine-tuned pay-per-click campaign was started to cover the time until Google would list the site.

In January 2007, pay-per-click efforts for the major search terms were eliminated, since organic search engine ranks were already so strong. Even though the market is extremely competitive on Google and the site was relatively new compared to the other competitor's sites, vasectomyinfo.com had climbed to a #1 rank for "vasectomy reversal" in May 2007.  It has also achieved numerous top 10 listings for other relevant search terms. As the No. 1 website listed on Google for this procedure, web site traffic has had an immense impact on patient numbers at the clinic.

Patient composition with Fertility MarketingUsing Fertility Marketing's services on a monthly retainer basis for years, the center continues to increase their patient numbers for their preferred cases in male fertility with focus on vasectomy reversals. 60% of all current patients report that they have found the practice through the Internet. In January 2007, the management at Male Fertility & Sexual Medicine Specialists decided to change their name to Male Fertility Specialists as a result of the increasing patient numbers in preferred cases.
